It has in excess of 23 kilometres of coast which pass through and includes some important additional destinations in addition to the main municipality of Marbella. San Pedro de Alcatara, Las Chappas and El Angel being among the most recognised locations.
Marbella is situated approximately 50 kilometres from the West of Malaga. Typical temperatures on average in the winter are 17 degrees and 25 degrees in the summer; this is due mainly to the protection of the Sierra Blanca and its peaks.
Marbella has several rivers and small streams the Real, Verde, Guardaiza and Guadalmina rivers , at the foot of the Sierra Blance you will find a mountainous landscape weaved by years of natural water courses which have been excavated by way of natural erosion. This provides places of interest such as La Concha gorges or the Puerto Rico valley.
San Pedro de Alcantara
Located approximately 10 kilometres from the centre of Marbella we find the district of San Pedro de Alcantara, the origin of this part of Marbella dates back to the 19th century when General Manuel Gutierrez founded an experimental agricultural colony, the results of which are the subtropical culture of the sugar cane and beet factory which you can still visit today.
The main monument in the old city is the parish built in 1940 and consequently destroyed at the beginning of the civil war and the restored in 1940. In the surrounding area close to Guadalmina’s river, and the urbanization with the same name are the remains of a Roman Settlement called Las Bovedas, this settlement was destroyed by an earthquake 365.
